and provide a transcript from each institution attended. Students must be
proficient in college algebra and the use of word processing, presentation
and spreadsheet software. Students must have high-speed internet access
(cable or DSL) for web-based courses. Students who are currently enrolled in the Graduate School and who wish to pursue the certificate program must inform the Graduate School and the certificate coordinator of their intention to apply for admission to the certificate program before eight of the required credits are completed. Students enrolled in the M.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition or in the Ph.D. program in Food and Nutrition Sciences may not concurrently enroll in the certificate program. A maximum of 40% (6 credits) of the credit hours towards the certificate may be accepted as transfer credit. A maximum of one course in which a grade of “C” was earned may be applied towards the requirements for the certificate. Pass/fail grades are not permitted. Acceptance of a course towards a certificate does not guarantee acceptance of the same course towards a graduate degree. Application for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Food and Nutrition is through submittal of an application for admission to this specific certificate program through the graduate school and payment of the required application fee ($25). The application form is available from the Graduate School. The Graduate Record Examination is not required for admission to the certificate program. Students whose undergraduate grade point average is less than 2.75 are discouraged from submitting an application to the program. Grades earned in the certificate program must be "B" or higher for transfer into the Master's degree program. Courses from the certificate program must have been taken within 5 years of the start of the Master's degree program to be eligible for transfer. Admission to the Food Science and Human Nutrition Certificate Program does not guarantee admission into the matriculated MS program. Completion of the certificate will not lead to credentialing as a Registered Dietitian. The certificate program must be completed within 48 months of the initial admission to the program. Tuition Costs Tuition costs
