The Department is located in
Hitchner
Hall, housing food science and nutrition research laboratories, classrooms,
and offices
for faculty and graduate students.
Faculty are friendly and accessible.
Class offerings
are diverse. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and geographic
areas.
Maine is a vacation destination for many, and residents and students enjoy the year-round outdoor activities. Many areas remain uncrowded for camping, hiking, boating and skiing.
Orono is a small town, close to Bangor (pop. 31,550)
The campus is safe, and the crime rate is very low in Maine.
Mainers are known for their wry sense of humor, their independent thinking, their honesty and work ethic and the high value they place on education.
